Fuzzy's Farm

hi guys, just popping in to get caught up.

job may be a bust. Not because i can't do it, but because i think i've been lied to. Badly. There wasn't extra hours like i was told i'd be taking, what it was is a girl was waffling over quitting. Terrible attendance, but wasn't getting fired..................They asked her to put in notice. As in so she could come back if she don't work out doing factory, which if her attendance is bad in the first 90 days she'll get canned, and guess what.............Yup, in the same 90 days i'm supposed to be working hard on my raise. Which this company don't give, according to all the rest of the staff................

I think i've been had.

from a manager standpoint-

just because the other staff tell you the company doesnt give raises doesnt mean they wont give you one. It means the others havent earned one.

Also- its so SOOOOOOO much easier if an employee voluntarily quits rather than firing. Paperwork and unemployment, you know...and just because they tell a problem employee that she can re-apply doesnt mean they will rehire her.

So dont give up hope, Fuzzy. Wait it out and see.

I am thinking on it, but thing is if they don't give the raise, which they've been known to lie (lied to me when i worked for them before) they will screw me badly. Once i start paying on my loan, there's no going back. Ditto on my credit card. And, if they cut me to only one day a week (Looks like i'm only getting 2) then i won't even be able to make up for cost to work :( There is another long time employee competing for the available hours. I'm going to keep looking, cover my basis, but at this point i am giving it until Fri to see what happens. :(

Friday isnt very long?

I would suggest waiting to start payments on your loan AFTER ninety days. Then you know if you have a raise or not. And what your hours will be.
Good luck.

I would agree with that but does not hurt to cover the basis just in case during that 90 days ... hope they do keep their word to you though !!!

I agree here with Kim - from a managers standpoint. When I was a Quality Manager I heard all the tales from other employees. Some true, some not. In my experience with employees it's the ones that shined that got the raises and the better jobs. The complainers and trouble makers got just what they deserved. I always gave raises and kept the employees that did their job and was willing to go that extra mile for me and didn't go around the shop complaining to other employees what a crap place it was to work.. I always told those people " If you don't like to work here then you are free to go somewhere else and work and do NOT bring your negativism in here and visit it on my employees." And I was a good boss too. I would go that extra mile for my employees also. People always wanted to work for me but in Quality you need certain credentials and schooling LOL.
