Gölden Øąĸŝ - a fantasy RP

"You should probably just put the entire thing on your hook, it looks like a wounded fish that way. The mermaids won't take it that way too, since they don't eat fish." Enya explained. "If you just take a chunk off that doesn't look like a fish, it's likely a mermaid will take it. They love land animals. Watch."
Enya took the tail-less lizard and threw it into a deeper part of the water. It took around a minute before the water stirred and a few mermaids came up, fighting over the lizard. Finally one took it away from the others and swam away, the other mermaids following.
"They're not too bright, like any other fish they'll just mistake the tail for a sea creature."
Up until that moment, mermaids had merely been a mystical creature that swam near the ocean floor, collecting pearls and making necklaces of seashells. That little fantasy crashed when the merpeople appeared and took the fish. Estelle gulped. Humans probably were categorized under 'land animals', meaning not even the river was safe.

Enya looked at Estelle, "When I was alive mermaids were not considered good...But perhaps that has changed..." She said.
"You should hurry and use the bait, while it's still fresh."

Estelle glanced at her, then hurriedly stuck the bait on the makeshift hook. She dropped the line in the river, looking from it to Enya. This lady-creature seemed nice, even perhaps caring about them, but caution was still required.

Enya looked at the darkening sky.
"It's almost dark. Never be out in the open when it's dark..." She advised. "I hope you have a shelter...?"
