I was wondering if anybody else called them that! I have seen them all my life. Rabbits get them a lot. I have had a dog to get them as well.

Yelp, my father always called them wolves...usually found them in squirrels we were dressing.

Just don't scroll over any of the highlighted parts and it will allow you to read the artical.

The miracle of the internet... I went back to try it and I didn't have any problems at all viewing the article...the first time there was a BIG registration window blocking the article. Whatever.

We get cruddy bugs in Kansas, like chiggers, but I can't say I've heard of those blasted nasty things happening here.

Blech!

I have lived in Arkansas my whole life and never heard of this before. Lucky me to rescue a kitten with one.

I'm not from the US and I'm just learning about all the funky bugs you guys have over here .... I have several dogs and cats, do these things thrive in the greenhouse environment that is GA? If so, I'm going to be checking them all a dozen times over before they're allowed back in the house after they go out! Is there anything I can do to keep the dogs / cats safe from them?

Thats exactly what those are. I've read up about them. Seems that they infest the poor squirels at a certain of the year. They aren't supposed to cause permanent damage to them, they are just their host. DISSSSQUSTING!
