I just got a PM from the BYC Moderation Team reminding me that posting a wanted ad in the BST and on other forums is not permitted. So, the other postings will be removed. Also, under 'Animals In Need of Free Re-Homing' there is this message: Do not list wanted ads or rescue ads in this section. There is just the one ad now under BST. I will make some fliers and post them other places, hopefully that will expedite things in getting the gander. Thanks for all your help.

I'm sorry Sarah I didn't even pay any attention to where you put the ads I just read the ads. I thought you were going to go to the Calif thread and ask there if anyone knew of or had a young gander for sale. Did you do that? Don't post an ad there but just make a new thread and ask.

My fault entirely for not looking at the Terms of Service first. I obviously didn't post under 'Rehoming' since the writing is right there. It'd have helped if there was similar information on the top for the other forums. The California page said to join the different forums just start a new thread "You will be added to the membership page, simply by posting on this thread." Plus, I saw other posts there asking about hens, rehoming, etc. so it seemed right: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/294033/california-inland-empire/340 Still I learned something here. I'm too sleepy to take very careful note of all rules and such. I'll just put up ads at local places near me. I really appreciate your taking the time to help me out.

While Juhy is recovering, 2 other geese are laying and I wanted to find out how to hatch them - any recommendations or links? Thanks.

OMG! That is some awesome serious stuff! I collected about a dozen now. I think I better let the girls hatch.

Well just let them keep laying and eventually you'll probably get a broody, give them a nice safe place to brood with lost of bedding and they will do the rest. She'll come off the nest one or 2 times a day to eat bathe and poop then right back to sitting. What are you going to do with the eggs you've collected? they do make awesome omelets too.

Well just let them keep laying and eventually you'll probably get a broody, give them a nice safe place to brood with lost of bedding and they will do the rest. She'll come off the nest one or 2 times a day to eat bathe and poop then right back to sitting. What are you going to do with the eggs you've collected? they do make awesome omelets too.

Planning on putting half of the eggs back in the nest when they stop laying eggs and start to sit.
The rest - mainly the ones that are less than perfect looking - will be omelets - will share with the neighbors who are eager to try. I was a vegetarian for a decade and the thought of eating the eggs from the little ones I take care of is kinda weird. I know I sound weird since it defeats the whole point of having them.

Had a long day! Chicken coop needed cleaning and I'm worried about 2 juvenile roosters being picked on. Had to take the dog to the groomer (long overdue), pick up feed and run errands. Posted ads in town today. Guess what? Got a response within minutes! Someone had geese a few miles from me and I brought home a nice bird this evening. Only problem is they weren't 100% sure whether it was a gander or not. They had 4 birds and thought 3 were ganders and 1 goose, so they parted with one. It's in isolation now. Feel bad for it - it had a big pond and 3 other pals to hang out with. Waiting for daylight to introduce the Pom and new bird. (They said it's a Toulouse - but doesn't look like it to me - no flap under the chin). Will post a pic tomorrow.

I inspected the rest of my mom's birds - all have clear nares and all seem to be in good health. So, Juhy didn't have anything contagious

The new bird seems healthy, also.

Juhy is so much better now. Still congested, but coughing less. She's staked out a corner of the kitchen and loves to watch TV from there. She's a real fan of my mom and hangs out near her and cries when doesn't see her. Only thing is her droppings are watery and white, even though she's eating grains and pellets. Gave her probiotics. Needs a bit more time recouping before she goes outside again. Had to bring in a kiddy pool inside the house and she splashed around to her heart's content. Right now she's taking a well deserved nap.

When introducing the new gander be sure to put him in next to your Pom for a few days not in the same pen, that way they can meet and greet with out any one getting picked on after all he's going to be the new kid on the block so to speak. Do you have any silver? I put it into a spray bottle and use it anytime I am going to be around the public[stores etc] it helps to kill bacteria was thinking maybe you could add about a tea to her drinking water and also the humidifier water. You've done such a good job with Juhy and now finding another goose so quick it's coming together so well. Yay and Praise God.

Oh, It'd be awesome if it is indeed a gander and gets along with Pom and Juhy when she's all better. I am so relieved that the liquid poo can be normal - it is clear like water. Her crop area doesn't feel bloated at all now. She looks lighter than before. It'd would be devastating for her to have come this far and for me to miss something critical in helping her. Love the idea of silver - is it colloidal silver? I've seen it online, read pros and cons - http://www.thesilveredge.com/ - some kind of electrically generated thing - not sure if that makes any difference. Do you have experience with a good brand? I'd rather not try something totally new. My mom talks softly to Juhy in a soothing voice and sometimes hums and Juhy relaxes and falls asleep. With me it's like 'ok, kiddo time for your meds, be a good girl' then move onto the next chore. She avoids me like the plague. I'll live with that since I'm sure she knows I love her. I'll have to get working on a separate area for the two roos fast. They are so adorable - just learning to vocalize and so gentle. This is the first time I've been this close to baby chickens. It's a wonderful experience. You are so right - for things to fall into place so fast is a heaven sent and Praise God, indeed.
