Gaggle of Geese Lovers

Pics
I've always wanted geese since I met some african geese at an auction, but my family is skeptical and wary:(
They are dogs wearing feathers and I still couldn't teach them to poop/pee on demand. Otherwise, they are so much fun and so loyal, sometimes too much...they literally pop your bubble/personal space😆.
I got 2 supposely "pilgrims", 1 gander and 1 goose, but I believe they are 2 ganders. 1 is Embden and 1 is a French Toulouse because they are a little protective of me, possessive more likely. They attack everyone that gets closer to me, including my sweet Corgi.
THey need space and lots of attention if you raise as a pet. Otherwise, I don't look back or miss any chickens because they are clean, their poop is easy to clean. Mine sleep in a tractor and fertilize our front grass and they spend the day in a run with sand on the ground or walking around with me. They are not as destructive to the garden as chicken but they chew on everything like a goat:idunno. They "help"me with chores and they make me laugh with their goofy behavior.

Picture story time!

The gaggle was excited to be given access to the tank. I normally don't allow this, so it's always a big deal, with much celebratory flapping and honking involved.

Hans decided to take advantage of the romantic setting with Heidi, and Picard took offense. Here Heidi makes her escape just after Picard charges into Hans.

Hans quickly turns things around, and Picard is maneuvering to escape. Tex has come up to lend moral support to Hans.

Picard disappears underwater as Hans dunks him. Tex, still lending moral support, is caught under Hans' wing.

This picture cracks me up. I don't know what exactly occurred to put Tex in this completely cartoonish pose.

And moments later: "What fighting? We've been serene and peaceful like this the entire time!"

Haha those are some hilarious pictures, especially the one with Horizontal Tex. You have such a lovely, colorful flock!

Love the After Action Report!

2 big bundles of Joy. Yesterday I met up with a breeder to get these 2 Pure White African Ganders who link back to the original whites were excepted by the APA in the 70s. Cant wait to intro them to my white girls in a few weeks. So grateful to find a breeder that would share the linage for future generations to love.
Wow, they're handsome. I've never seen white Africans, though I've known of them. Not that I see many Africans in any coloration - the Chinese are far more common wherever I see the swan goose breeds. How's their personalities?

Wait until they "inhale" plastic glove, a piece of box tape like slurping spaghetti🍝
I can't believe they can digest all the garbage that I witness (I don't want to guess what I haven't:hmm). Surely, I worry about them for 48 hours after their "gourmet" meal:fl

I worry about what they'll find. One goose I butchered this year had a gizzard in which the inside had been cut and scraped to shreds. Going through the grit I found the culprit: a staple. The goose had never acted ill or anything, but with the state the gizzard was in that couldn't have lasted forever. I clean up the land as best I can, but the amount of stuff they manage to unearth is impressive.

The heavyweight purebred Africans are all a pretty mellow bird a little loud. These guys are just getting settled in but so far mellower than my main flock. I have 3 white girls they will get to meet after quarantine but right now they both talk with me with sweet little noises once they see girls that may change. The whites are really rare and hard to find I feel so blessed.

They are very smart but they don't have selective taste buds. They love anything shiny and colorful and different, but if I offer a healthy new fruit or veggie they hesitate to try it:hmm
I bet you have a treasure chest from their gizzard. You should collect to teach us pet owners how dangerous it can be for them.

Great pets but a "bit" possessive😬

AWWWW!!! I will tell my fam this info, maybe they will be convinced a little!!!! I've been watching vids and such on geese and I keep telling my family that they are like dogs, but they literally ignore me🙄😢one of my fam members loved our past duck, Daisy, whom we raised from a baby when we found her in the middle of a parking lot. Her fave part about Daisy was how she gave "kisses" with her beak. I keep trying to tell her that that's what geese will probably do too, but I don't think she's convinced😥
