GAH! The post office lost my expensive silkies!

I had this happen too, only I was the sender and mine were returned to me after 4 days!! Unbelievably they were still alive and in decent shape thanks to the apple slices I had put in with them. I shipped them on thursday morning from MI to TX and then made it to Detroit and never left there, Monday they were returned to me. They claim they have no shipments Fri-Sun to TX so they were returned. That was my local P.O.'s fault for not checking I guess. I kept the birds for another week and then sent them on again on a monday and they arrived no problem. Problem is, the P.O. made me pay again and wouldn't refund my original shipping label because I purchased it online, told me I had to apply online for a refund but I haven't figured out how to do that. So I am out $75! Anyone have a clue how to do that?

Do you know if the sender put fruit in the box to hold them over? If so, they should be okay if they get to you tomorrow. Good luck.

Thank heaven my precious peeps arrived safe and sound on Tuesday! At least at my PO, they were busy charming the entire staff with peeping and beaks at the vent holes. But I feel your pain. I would have been frantic if they were wandering in the back roads of the postal routes...

That's why I, as a fish hobbyist, NEVER get anything that is alive and expensive shipped with USPS! I always go Fedex or UPS with Fish shipments...

Hopefully your silkies just missed a flight though and will be there tomorrow...

Did you purchase insurance?

If they didn't arrive when scheduled (Express Mail is guaranteed) you should get a full refund of your shipping fee, and I would look into if insurance is included. If it is (or if you purchased it extra) and they died due to the USPS's delivery failure, then you should get all your money back through an insurance claim.

I hope they are okay and will arrive tomorrow!

Thanks, this is what I suspected, our postmaster is a real jerk! He loves to throw his weight around just because he thinks he can.

I both ship & receive shipments through DHL, USPS, UPS, & Fedex. I prefer Fedex because of there ability to actually scan the package so you know where it is at. I have had the most problems with Fedex but only because I have used them the most. I quit shipping by Fedex because there prices got unreasonable. By far DHL has been the worse. I haven't had a lot of packages go them (maybe 50 or so) but more then half I have had some kind of problem with. One of which being I wasn't home so they left a message that my package was at the terminal & would not be redelivered & after I drove 50 miles to get it I was told they didn't have it. I had to demand that it be found before they called the driver which said he left it at my neighbors.

Anyhow even though I have had problems with USPS they are by far the least troublesome. If you think about how many people they employ & how many packages they handle there is going to be mistakes & people that don't care.

I hope you find your package, get your refund, & everything is good. Also I still complain when something happens to my packages.

Bad news. They didn't come in this morning either. And the last truck of the day comes in at 1:30. For some reason I doubt they will be on it.

If they aren't on it, that means 4 or more days in the mail.
