Ok, I am a very quiet person, I try to keep my mouth shut and mind my own, I try to be polite to everyone... but in this instance, I'd be SERIOUSLY cussing someone's BEE-HIND out.

How dare they?! Don't they realize these are LIVE birds waiting to get to their home and get food and water?! Jee-bus, what demon has taken control of the post office these days?

My sis-in-law had the exact same thing happen to her... only with newborn, 2 day old chicks! Needless to say... by the time the freakin' idjits at the post office figured out where they were and got them to her (with an attitude, may I add, as if it weren't their problem or my sis-in-law as taking up their precious time), the babies were gone.

Hopefully since your Silkies are a bit older, they may also be a bit hardier. I would call and call and call and call until someone answered and helped me out.

PLEASE update us and I'm sure you're in a lot of people's thoughts right now! Here's hoping your little birds make it home safe...

THEY MADE IT HOME!

They got to the post office at 1:30, and one of the post men took lunch break and brought them straight to me in his car.

They thought they were adorable.

When I opened the box it was very hot in their, they were all overheated. One of my splashes were down on it's side.

I brought them in and they all perked up. But now the splash is looking sickly again. I sure hope it makes it. But it isn't looking to hopeful.

Pray for my little darling. He/she isn't doing good. They others are doing great. Boy are they loud, but so sweet. They aren't shy like my other chickens. But one of them sure does like to peck.

As for the splash, keep giving it electrolytes. Poor thing...

Keep the splash drinking, you may have to dip the beak and keep reminding it to drink until she hydrates back to normal.

I had a trio of SSH Bantams all the way from northern Michigan and it took them five days to get here in Mid Central Illinois! I never had any birds for more than two or three days and everyone including the trio, all had more fruit to eat.

When shipping birds, make sure you add extra grapes or apples in case there is a misroute going on.
