Alright, so I think i might leave them together unseparated for another day or two to see how they still go. I think the gamble only pecks at the other chick because it's new and thinks its eyes are food or a bug maybe. The pecking of the face significantly lessened more after they've spent more time together. But so far the two are actually getting along more than I thought! They are cuddling together and the button chick is actually helping the gamble chick eat more often with the behavior its learned from its previous group.
I have looked around other threads and blogs and so far it might be the case. Some separated with a mesh that they can still see through of but cannot peck through. Once they stopped trying to peck they were reintroduced and then even had a small mirror as extra security in case the chick wanted to try again but this time it would technically peck itself haha!
