"gambling" with fate to defend my eggs' life (he/she make it!!!!)

wow, amazing, 11 days ice keep frozen without melting and without using electricity? wow, i got amazed. i agree with you. but, all vents must be closed? how did the eggs "breath " then? as we know, emrbyos "breath" to "get" oxygen and release CO2, how do you think about it? please apologize me for "counter" asking your question since we all hope the best to be.

Mulia, the only time the incubator would be completely closed up,is when you would have a power outage, keeping as much heat as possible sealing inside the incubator,as well as humiditity.Once your power comes back on,you could open the vents back up as before. Yes,it is true we have oce coolers that will keep ice frozen for 11 days,if the lid is kept closed. They are also higher priced the better their insulating capabilities.
We have styrofoam for insulation that can be bought in 4x8 foot square sheets and some is 3 inches thick. If one box was made for an incubator, then the outside was covered with 3 inches of this styrofoam insulation, then another box was made to enclose the insulation, and inside box,I think the temperature would stay or hold within 1-2 degrees for 2-3 hours,,if all vents was closed in a power outage.

No matter how well-insulated, you MUST have a source of oxygen or you will smother the eggs. I don't think they can be closed up for 3-4 hours safely without access to fresh air.

And then you have the flamability issue if the keronsene lamps are used for longer outages.

Since there are veins in the duck eggs, there is proof that Mulia's current bator system is working. It's not perfect, and a great deal of work to maintain. As much as I'd love to make this easier there is no way to do so quickly enough for these eggs. So... maybe the best thing is to offer support and suggestions for the current system?

Mulia, some people put their egg shells in a pan and bake them for a few minutes, just to make sure they don't taste like fresh egg shells, and to kill any bacteria that might be on them. It's a personal choice. I don't bake mine thouh, but rinse them and let them air dry before crumbling them. I don't have a dog, but whatever scraps the cats don't eat from our cooking go to the chickens, also. Even meat scraps. The chickens fight over meat scraps! They don't get very much of the scraps, though.

Yes, leave the eggs for a few more days. Maybe they are going slow because of the early temperature troubles. But if you still don't see action after 3 more days, then you should probably cook them for your hens.

Do the chickens lay eggs in clean places? If not, then I'd get them used to living in a coop part of each day. I let me out late in the day to run around, and that makes them use their nice clean nest boxes for the eggs. After a few weeks they will always go back inside the coop to lay their eggs in the nest boxes. Another advantage to having them in a coop s so that someday, when you have young birds, you can let them play in the yard for a while without being pecked on by the older birds.

@ wegotchickens : no, my hen always lay on ground/soil. okay, i will get my hen inside the coop after it finished (maybe 5 days more to be perfect with paint). yes, i've asked it to frenchblackcopper, i'm confused now.... really hard to live in power outages country. is it possible to receive frenchblackcopper's offer and just open little every window as needed and keep watching the temp and close the window if the temp got so lower? i think to keep that bator in a room in my home that proved to be hot enough (35 deg) in order to keep the heat and i also have a "vision" how if i use 12 volt bulb in a bator that frenchblackcopper planned to gift, if the insulation as good as he said then it won't be a problem even if the power outages happen i don't need to close the window and just light that bulb using battery just to "keep" the heat not to "increase" heat since 12 volt bulb can't be rely on to make more heat. advice please and thank you very much.

@ frenchblackcopper : yap, i also just bough styrofoam box, i just haven't feel that i should use it now since i'm still keep watching my eggs and building a coop now. i think your offer is good, maybe i can use 12 volt bulb to be use with my battery to keep the bator you planned to sent so if the bator is good light you said then it will of course easily keep the temp up with even only 12 volt bulb. what do you think?

thank you for every comment, help, advice and even a gift, this really "valuable" for me.

Mulia,,I can build you a double walled box, with 3 inches of styrofoam between the inside and outside walls for insulation. I could also install a wafer thermostat, that once set to 99.5 degrees farenheit, will allow electricity to turn your light bulb on or off. An egg tray could be installed, with a rod,or lever attached to the side, with the rod coming to the oustide so you can turn the egg tray several times a day without opening the incubator up and allowing heat to escape. I could place a small plastic tray in the bottom to hold water and a few sponges for humiditity control. I could also install a small electric 12 volt fan to circulate the air inside. Vents could be made that can be opened and closed up to help stabilize the humiditity levels and conserve heat. The wafer thermostat should work well with any voltage and once set,is very reliable at kepping the desired temperature inside the incubator.

Mulia,,I was in the process of converting an old upright freezer into an incubator,,bgut I did not get it completed before my eggs was to be scheduled to ship to me,,so I abandoneded that incubator project for awhile, and bought a new Brinsea 190 EX Advance,,at which time I have close to 200 eggs inside it now,,so I have the spareparts,,and wood,,shipping may be costly tho. How many eggs can you collect and incubate at one time? 1-2 dozen?

@ frenchblackcopper : eggs? ehm, if i can get mine enough i can buy it outside although in here there will be no one/ very rare people want to sell those fertile "local" chicken eggs. so i can effort another eggs, maybe duck or arab or european eggs (name could be different in your country). but maybe the maximal amount is 50 eggs.
