in 1 side i'm actually have gone crazy.

i (and the eggs) suffer 17 hours power outages (you won't believe it except you're here). the power failure happen in 8 o'clock in the night and electricity come back at 1 o'clock at noon.

till now, i can afford 38 deg and 65% humidity (can't get higher than that
sad.png
) i even use now 10 sponges with warm water and wet cloth, i think this is because of bad insulation cause i'm only use triplex. i'm sure i can keep better humidity with styro one but i have tossed 2 other in styro because they've gone
hit.gif
. i hate this power failure country
he.gif
, if only i can get out here, i will not wait any second to spend here.

i'm getting crazy, i won't dramatize any about the eggs, here we are.
now the eggs show no movement, no peep, no sound, no anything i can see/hear from my bator except very noisy sound
somad.gif
from nearby religion building and fan sound inside the bator. and i don't know what to do anymore since i've get this power failure too long then i assume the embryos will have been suffer much with 17 hours nonstop CO2 supply. i don't know what should i do now. i only wait for 2 days more and will throw them away after they pass it.
he.gif
then, i can say good bye to 4 weeks effort to make them grow and alive.
hit.gif
you won't know how deep my anger grew caused by this power failure

almost 70 years of independence and they can't afford to supply electricity? every time i see sticker write "visit i******** 2009" i'm thinking..... that only embarrassment to this country, they can't even supply their citizen and now asked foreigner to come and *enjoy* this country? i think the only thing the tourist will *enjoy* is a very bad experience of 17 hours of power outages that they can't *enjoy* it on their country. and i think that no one would actually *enjoy* power outages.

huh, i'm sorry to mumbling here. that's it, then you know what now happen to the duckling. i'm waiting and waiting now....
smile.png
i think they won't come to daddy

and on the other side, i'm happy but not very, just happy.

my coop *did good.*. the girls know what to do with the coop. the girl lay an egg inside the nest box. she is too busy, it took 2 hours for her to run around and scratch 3 of 6 nest boxes to find the place she love.
big_smile.png

i'm still waiting for the brown girl to lay, still confused why she didn't even lay till now. and i have a problem, i have a black girl (i heard american called it sumatran or java chicken) and she is until now hasn't also lay. and i want to join her to the flock (2girls and 1 roost) but the 2 girls seem not to be happy with her so i can't join them cause the 2 girls always fight and peck and bite her whenever i joined them together, how can i solved this? the point is i want them all live a peaceful life with 1 DH (the roost
big_smile.png
). how to make it happen?

i really love to see the egg in the nest, very clean and smooth egg now i got cause i give it shaving as what BYC er did. i want to leave it in the nest but i can't since i'm afraid of rat will eat it. how to solve this?

38691_wew.jpg

yap, that's all i can type now. i have censored and edit and delete many word from this post before click submit button since i didn't want to break any rules in BYC.

How good to hear from you, mulia! I was starting to worry, so I'm glad to "see" you this morning. I am SO sorry to hear about your outage--17 HOURS!!! And right at the end of your incubation too!!
hit.gif

Your coop looks wonderful! And the egg is beautiful.
smile.png
About the one girl--can you put her in a small cage inside the coop? Maybe if the other girls get used to her there but can't actually reach her to hurt her, they'll get used to her. Or you could try putting the other girls somewhere else for a couple days, and the new girl in with the rooster. The rooster will probably bond with her pretty quickly, and then when you let the other two back in with them, they will be the "newcomers" and might not pick on the one.

I have good news for me this morning--I have six out of 12 eggs pipped, and one starting to zip. I only wish you were sharing my joy with your own little babies popping out.

Hmmm... I have wanted for a long time to buy a small generator for the occasions when we have power outages (not very often, but sometimes during bad weather). I wish I had one and I could send it to you!

Maybe if we all work together we can figure out a way to help you get your next batch to hatch...

i'm also feel happy when i know there are some people still have an attention to my duck eggs.
smile.png

you won't believe but now the power outages is happen and i am glad i have charged the laptop so i have battery but won't last long (cheapest laptop here).
big_smile.png
arggghhh!! can't keep humidity up, have to open vents with kerosene lamp!!!
he.gif

oh, thank you, i will try that way, i will make a little space inside the coop caged with net and move the girl in it.
smile.png

oh thank you, i really appreciated what you have thinking. i don't ask people to help me with material such as : money. but i really appreciate if anyone want to help me with idea, DIY, or how to solve this problem but i really appreciate if there are people want to help me with , but once again i remind you that those thing won't be cheap since generator can take money till US$100 and i don't ask it, just if anyone want to help then i won't refuse it.

and i really understand BYC rule as described below :

13. Do not solicit donations or charitable requests for yourself or other people or organizations.

that's why i said i don't ask people to give me material but if anyone want to help i won't refuse it and i won't break any rule as long as i don't request or ask for it.

i'm really happy and glad even without anyone send me generator, etc. as long as anyone help me solve any problem that will the best thing that i really appreciate it.

many thing that you all have help me start from how to incubate, how to use the egg shell how to build good coop and many thing and i really appreciate that all. i just can't believe that i just typing long answer and suddenly the power goes out
somad.gif
. so i retype anything from beginning.

set silence mode, lowering monitor brightness and contrast to the lowest level, turn off any un needed connectivity, killing many un needed process, turn off firewall, antivirus, anti spyware, anti adware anti malware and anti trojan, stopping all download. that's all i do when use battery.
smile.png

many people that i can't tell one by one their name have helped me and i really appreciate what the have done. i can't do anything except saying thank you.
smile.png

Mulia,

I have been watching this thread with much interest. I do not offer any suggestions because I have never incubated an egg and I have no knowledge on that subject to share.

I just want you to know that there are more of us out here wishing you well with your eggs. I admire your determination and hope that you will have success, if not with this hatch, then with the next. Don't give up.

thank you tomato lady, i'm not insist that you must provide me with suggestion. you can share on every knowledge.
smile.png

the wishing itself has found to be much useful and have raise my will to keep them until 2 days more with this !@#$% power company make it all ruin.

yes, i learn much with my high lost with this first incubation, i just regret i can't have a NORMAL incubation like lots of people in BYC did.
hit.gif

i learn my mistakes and i know what to do next time i face it but i still can't keep my eggs out from CO2 and unstable temp and humid caused by power failure.

i, maybe will stop incubating after this big failure because i realize that i only did useless thing and kill the embryos every time i try to hatch them with my unstable temp and humidity fluctuation caused by lacking of electricity. i have tried to build solar powered generator but i stuck when i know the price of solar panel, i've tried to make an inverter since i can't afford to buy it but i'm stuck when i saw the diagram i don't understand it. then, i think it's better to eat the egg than try to *raise* them and just kill them in the middle of way after gave them a chance to develop. that's a really deep hurt when you know you can't keep them alive after you grew them.
hit.gif

Hi Mr. Mulia,
I don't know much about electricity but can you use a fully charged automotive battery to hook up to the heater when the electric goes out? Maybe one that could be re-charged back in the auto when it goes down?

my bator use 45 watt and the battery is 12 volt, then you need inverter to make DC to AC then i don't have it, then ruin.
sad.png

update: the egg still alive, he/she make another *crack*/*hole* on the other side, i'm too busy working, humid can't get more than 60%. temp stable. i can't watch over him/her, i'm too busy.
he.gif

may i spray the egg using sprayer filled with warm water? that would take the humidity of egg reach 95%. may i?

may i just help him/her out?
