Garden in the Desert Hatch-Along

I was able to process the images from tonight's candling right away, so here we go for Day 9:

Vera and Optunia have one more day before they are pulled. As of tonight they are still not showing new growth.

Agave and Acacia continue to be shy, in that they are doing their dancing in the egg mostly away from the shell where it is harder for me to see or take pictures of. But they are definitely active and bigger than yesterday!

Salvia is not far behind Marigold, both of whom are the furthest along and are doing their own dancing. Cactus looks like the third most developed and was doing her own unique dance in her shell. It's so great to see these guys so active!

Last night was day 10! Time is going so fast.

Vera and Optunia looked exactly the same, so I went ahead and pulled them. They will find a new home under an apple tree I'm transplanting.

The remaining 5 eggs look great! All of them are moving with good blood vessel development. I rearranged where and what trays the eggs are in so that all the eggs are centered in the incubator. Marigold and Agave are together in one. Cactus, Acacia, and Salvia are on the other.

Candling Day 15

I missed a few days of candling, and wow did these guys develop in that time! All of them are still growing!

Salvia, Acacia, and Cactus have pretty much filled the egg, with all of them showing movement during the candling. Marigold has also filled up her egg, and she responded to clucking by moving more. Agave is the least developed, but she is active inside. So, still going strong and she still has 6 more days to catch up. And heck, if she wants to show herself a day or two behind the others, that's okay. I still love you, Agave!

Eggs are now in lockdown! I did only a quick candling, but didn't take any pictures. They are mostly dark, as they should be, and seem to have a nice sized air sac. Come on, little Chickies! Show yourself on Sunday!
