I just wish I could beam you over here for a few days and get your ideas on planting around this house. I surely love what you have at yours.

I'm just so poor at imagining it myself.
I have always had an active imagination, and am good at envisioning my final products. It does help a lot with gardening. Looking at books and magazines can help a lot too. They can help you find what you like and what you don't.

Some of my desire for edible landscaping is to protect the animals. Some of it is that I wouldn't mind being able to harvest for ourselves if we want to.
You can grow lots of edibles that look good too. Kale is one of those things, and it will self seed too.

Last year I planted the Zucchini all along the back of the deck. I leave that area for garden plants. They looked fantastic there!

Apparently I didn't get any when they were mature but I do have these when they were first planted. Zucchini on one side of the steps and bell peppers on the other.

Then the driveway side. Everything there is edible too, just not a "garden plant" with the exception of a bush that I want to take out and replace with a low blueberry or something similar.View attachment 1360612
There are lots of low growing blueberry bushes. You could also grow cranberry bushes, and strawberries, as well as various herbs.
