Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

went out to the garden this morning, first tho, i picked blueberries so husband could have a blueberry cobbler with enough to have on cereal for a couple of days( can pick more as he needs them) then pulled some lettuce and four cajun spice(?) peppers and then picked our first mess of english peas, should have another picking yet, remember i got a late start planting, middle may, saw my first planting of green beans are blooming, will be so happy when i can pick them, store bought just isn't as tasty! now for dinner will have fried chicken, peas, salad, blueberry cobbler and maybe another veggie, not sure yet:p edited to say, blueberry cobbler was delicious even if i do say so myself:lol: i normally don't eat sweets, but even husband had two helpings

Well I transplanted my four healthiest Tomatillos, buried them 8-10" deep and in less than a week, they have shot up another 8 inches and are covered in blooms. I'll need to go back and find the link to the recipes you gave me.
i remember they were in one of the magazine i take, altho can't remember which one , i'm always slow on throwing those type of magazines away so might be able to find it again if you can't:)

For those that live in a cool climate and shorter growing season such as I do, I can heartily recommend the King Arthur Bell Pepper.

You can see that in addition to the dill and purslane, I have hollyhocks trying to take over the garden.

beautiful, all but the dill, not a dill person, hate the smell, when i took over the garden from my mil years ago, dill would come up every spring after my husband would till it, i hoed it out every time i saw it, but still it came back, even this year just dug up two little ones mixed in my mustard and took them to a man at the auction, he does a lot of pickles and such but your pepper , cauli and cabbage, NICE

I harvested the cauliflower today. It was approximately 8" in diameter and is delicious. I had some raw dipped in ranch dressing. I am planning on pickling a quart using my hot sweet pickled tomatoes recipe. If it comes out good, I will pickle more from the next one.

where is everyone, in the garden? it was suppose to be cooler here this week, rrright, its only 8:46, i just came in from planting some okra plants i bought at the auction yesterday, mine didn't come up this year, thinking my seeds were to old, anyway, its so hot already, dripping
thurs, husband was mowing the upper pasture and found a fawn caught in the fence with the right back leg, hanging upside down of course, we had to cut the wire to get her loose, don't know if she made it or not, wanted the game comminison to come get her but they don't do that," just take her back to where she was at the fence", i'm hoping she made it but i doubt it, she couldn't stand up:hit
