Oh they are outside for sure. Stinky rabbits. How does such a small animal make so make so much waste.

There are too many rabbits around here. You can buy them from 5-30 dollars, and there's always plenty for sale, so it's harder to sell them here. At 100 dollars a rabbit I would be selling them too.

When we raised meat rabbits in north FL, we were lucky to get $20 apiece for them (we had New Zealands and Californias). And according to the law, we could butcher them for ourselves but were not allowed to butcher them for sale. So if someone wanted rabbit meat for dinner, they'd have to take a live rabbit and do the deed themselves.

Seriously? You can't butcher your own birds for consumption? On a side note I was born in Cook County Illinois.
No not allowed. Option is to take to a live poultry place and they will do it for you. Last time I sent a person to get some roosters processed, the poultry place charged $4 per bird. She took them home in plastic bags nice and clean. Ready to cook. :thumbsup I think she had about 15 to do. All was done in a very short time. Place knows their business. They are equipped . The process was like this,,,,,,, Drop off birds,,,,,, Go to McDonald's and eat lunch,,,,,,, Return and take birds home.

That is handy and cheap. I probably would use them too.

Did you get a lot of people willing to do the deed themselves? So many people are squeamish, but still want to eat meat. I find it strange. I'm squeamish so I don't eat meat.

I had customers come buy our roosters and process them for themselves all the time.
We had people stop by and ask us to raise some for them. I had so many people ask that I did it for several years. When it got to time consuming and to much we got out.
Then I sent them all to TSC to buy them.
That's good to hear there are still lots of practical people left. I think I have read one too many posts on this site about people not being able to butcher an aggressive or unwanted bird. Makes me think no one can anymore.

We also had meat rabbits but we only raised them for ourselves. We processed them ourselves also.
We did sell a few to one lady. But I tried to keep the numbers down for our freezer only.
We had mixes and Californian's and a Rex/ Californian.
I like the Red New Zealand's and the Californians to look at.Have not eaten rabbit yet. Considering them but i bet they eat a lot.

We had people come and buy male goats to eat and asked to butcher them at our place. It was disturbing, goats yelling as they bled to death. Never again.
