Hubs just assembled the wheelbarrow he got me for Christmas, so it's ready to go once spring gets here. Looks nice and sturdy. I tried it out on the porch, and I think the two wheeled version will be easier for me to handle, considering my arthritic hands, and troublesome elbow that was dislocated twice within a year. Ready for spring!

Glad you like it :thumbsup

Thanks, my birthday is not until the 28th but i did get a present today and it holds 10 eggs!View attachment 1207382
Even having bad soil can make raised beds necessary. I put some in my new garden here in Virginia this year. Still i am digging up the soil inside the beds and adding composted manure and sand to the clay based soil. I only plan to do that once. I was not able to spend much time on the garden because i was building chicken coops. This year will be different.
You might be interested in straw bale gardens. They could even grow on a raised platform.
I love, love, love your egg apron! I've wanted one, but would only be able to use it in the winter or when most of the gals are molting. Carrying forty eggs against my legs would be a disaster waiting to happen haha.

I just love it because it has chickens on it. I wouldn't want to fill it up, i would be sure to fall down!:gig

Gathering up bunny poo to spread on the garden tomorrow. Now that i have 15 bunnies it piles up much faster!
Unfortunately, there's so many wild rabbits around here that after the snow melts in the spring, we can actually gather up their poo from certain areas on our property where they've been munching on our plants all winter. They make me so mad!

Cap, is the cat in your avatar one of yours or just a stock photo? It's so pretty!

Here's a crazy question ... I've never planted with the intent to over winter. My Kale and carrots died off during the freeze a couple weeks ago... Will they come back in the spring? If so, do I need to clip off the dead leaves and tops?

I don't know about the kale but the carrots will come back. Depending on the stage they were in previously will determine whether they will continue to be of use or if they will just go to seed. Carrots that are mature when they go into the winter will come back and go to seed while immature carrots can come back and grow to maturity and be usable.

We have wild rabbits too, but not that many. More deer than rabbits.
Yes, the kitten in my avatar is one i bred. One litter for my female and i got to keep this guy as a lap cat since his mom prefers hubby. All three of the kittens are very friendly since i made a point of handling them daily. The people that bought them are thrilled and say they are the best cats they ever had! I just love raising animals!

Both will come back but they will go to seed, so neither are edible the second year.
