SSSSSS. Ouch. I sympathize. I was digging up a rose to move it the other day and pushed real hard with my foot on the shovel- sucker went all the way to the ground and me with it. Boy- getting old isn't for sissies. I now make a habit of holding on to a rake handle or something when I do anything- of course walking is always a challenge- today I tripped over the bird netting I was stapling to stakes to keep the hens out of the vegetables. Luckily, I caught myself on one of the patio posts.
hope your knees get better soon
Thanks everyone for the suggestions and well wishes! A bit of bruising but not too bad. Problem is they never recovered from my last fall. I ordered gel insert knee pads but they are just too bulky.
I am working on hand tilling the new garden area along the fence that hubby put up. I need to buy more fencing! Loving the spring weather , but rain in the forecast for several days so i will work on indoor projects.

I have reached the point where I don't recover either. Things just get added to the pile of what's wrong with this old jalopy. :hmm I also no longer contain all my factory issued parts.

Ha ha ha! Lets see, i am missing my tonsils and adenoids, my uvula, my uterus and ovaries, and about 1/3 of each breast. I had carpal tunnel surgery and my wisdom teeth removed. Probably why i keep forgetting stuff.

There are 2 grape vines planted, morning glories, sugar snap peas. Strawberries on the way, and 2 raspberry canes.

he weed eated my blue butterfly bush I had out in the garden also. *sigh* I hope it comes back since he did leave some stems about 3" long.

Tough to kill those things. They can and do die back to the roots during winter here and come back strong. Don't give up on it, I'll bet it comes back soon.

We finally have some warmer weather. Tomorrow we are planting onions and root veggies. We have 50 each Texas Super Sweet, Walla Walla, reds, yellows, shallots and garlic. D cut up the seed potatoes and they are skinned over and ready to plant. We are trying a new potato this year, Kennebec, along with the tried and true Yukon Gold and new reds.

I got a call from a local nature preserve that is taking up their boardwalk and replacing it. The naturalist there knows we like to repurpose stuff so we are heading over there with the truck tomorrow afternoon to salvage some wood. More raised beds on the way!

I thought garlic is planted in the fall?

Started at sunup this morning planting the greenhouse goodies. D managed to get spinach, kale, chard, beets and some potatoes in the ground before the rain started. I fired up the chainsaw (been waiting for a chainsaw project!) and carved out another 10 x 100 ft. addition to our bramble patch, dug up the sumac roots and started tilling when the rain hit. Steady rain in the forcast for the next 3 days. This much rain was somewhat unexpected, and of course I just applied neem oil to the orchard last night! Took a quick look on the hill in front of our house for mushrooms....it will be hard for me to do anything else for awhile.
