i like your raised bed, looks like it would last and last

I hope so. The beds I had previously, didn't last one season. That was using pressure treated. I think the pt gave it a good flavor for the termites.

I picked a mess of turnip greens this morning and fixed them for supper tonight. They were pretty good. Much better than I remembered them being.

turnip greens are always good, along with a root chopped up in it with a couple of pieces of bacon or ham cooked with them

My Hydrangea is finally blooming- white. Oh well, I can work on that color. It has never bloomed and it is 4 years old. My Rose of Sharon are doing great too- love them. No comment on the weeds and leaves- holiday weekends are for getting to those things.

My potted growing is doing OK.
This is my Sorrel. Had to cover with wire to keep squirrels from digging up. Now will have to redo the covering with what is on second pix.
BTW DW made sorrel soup today. From what we had still frozen from last season. This crop will not be ready to start picking for maybe 3 weeks. I pick the larger leaves and bag and freeze portions. Carries us all summer. Use the leaves fresh as needed as well.

It is a slight pain in the neck to have to do this, but with the eatable items, I just have to protect them,,,, :frow

Hi. I haven't read through the whole thread and hate to admit that I am old. But, am considering container gardening to save my back. Any advice? Do I need to use certain soil? I am just used to tilling a section and doing back breaking work for some rewards at the end of summer. Thanks!

I use kiddie pools for my garden. I am not able to dig in the soil or till the land any longer.
This is an easy method. Also you can mix top soil and pine bark much for a raised be with some 10-10-10 fertilizer.

This is a modified kiddie pool garden. Lined with 6mm plastic and water 1 1/2" deep
and my plants are planted in walmart recycled re-usable grocery bags.
