R2Elk: Those roses took my breath away!!
Yes and they will grow where you are. I am a cold zone 4 and sometimes a zone 3. I do not give these roses any special care through the winter and they bloom every year for me. It is a bit of a ship for you (overnight delivery for me) since High Country Roses are located in Denver, Colorado. I got the Campfire Rose from Fedco but it does not look like they carry it anymore. High Country Roses does recommend protecting the Canada roses through the first winter.

Just wanted to share these....
Yucca flowered from 2 separate plants. Once it flowers, the base plant dies. (not right away BTW) The flowers turn into seed pods and all dries. The roots do not die, and new plants sprout up . (not far from original plant. maybe 6 to 10 inches).

My container grown Sorrel is doing VERY WELL.

Planted a few more so I can have a continuous harvest until autumn. Some Sorrel, and some Dill. Some of the Sorrel I put into plastic baggies and freeze. The Dill ,,,,,,, just use fresh, since it is available in produce section year round.
Netting is to keep critters out, including my chickens..... :)

My Tiger Lillie's are starting to bloom.
These are SUPER PROLIFIC...... I still like to give them a good dose of food... :).. I drop all my coop cleanout into these beds all winter long. I do not keep a compost pile. I spread out the coop cleanout contents so as to not deal with burning of plants. Always have GOOD RESULTS.

I have a flower bed that is better at growing grass than almost anything else. I planted vinca there and it will be the scourge of me.
I spent about 3 hours out there and it is only 1/2 done. The weeds got ahead of me due to too much rain or days so hot the dogs would only venture outside for 5 min.
I need to do something about it as I am currently icing my elbows.
So, would you dig up the plants you wanted to keep and then till the rest to start over? I am thinking about getting one of those claws that you twist and till with as my tiller would be too big for the area. I have some butterfly bushes that I want to keepmtheir or replant elsewhere. Some daisy like plants, some perennial mums, and some serum. The rest is just vinca and grass. Ugh.
Any tips are appreciated. All of my other flower beds are manageable- so I know it is that darn vinca!
Sounds like the darned grass is the issue. The vinca is just an innocent bystander!

Those Yucca flowers are beautiful, I've never seen them before.
Be very sure you want yucca before planting. They are hard to get rid of if you change your mind. We had some in our flower bed in TN, they were there when we moved in. Despite attempts to dig them up and kill them, they were still there when we left.

Around here the method of killing yucca is to dig a circle around the plant and keep it filled with water if possible. They cannot take excessive amounts of water. I did manage to kill one by digging it out and the root was in excess of 8' deep.

A couple of weeks ago we dug up our blueberry bushes that were getting overrun by thistles in the bed they were in. We have put them in big pots. We will see how they do. They haven't been productive where they were. I intend to leave them out all year round.
