Yes it is. But on the good news front, fruit set before we got our frost. I've got crab apples, pears and peaches growing now. Hopefully the deer and the squirrels will let me have some.
how about a little meat with the fruit:lau:lau
i invited a rabbit to supper one night cause it kept eating my garden, guite good too

@R2elk

You have bees!!!!!

:wee
Yes I do. They make the best honey because I plant sweet clover for them and I do not kill off the weeds whose flowers contribute to an amazing light colored honey.

This year I also have an amazing number of bumblebees. I have never seen this many bumblebees here before.

So...you're a beekeeper?

We're just starting a new hive this week. Hoping it goes well! Using a long lang.

How have your bees overwintered?
In the past they have over wintered well but the past several years I unintentionally poisoned them and have had to start over.

The first ones that I got here were carniolans and survived for seven years. Unfortunately they were not good producers so it was hit or miss whether or not I was able to harvest any honey.

I believe the county poisoned them but cannot prove it. The hive was doing great. The cherries started blooming, the county sprayed late that evening and the next day my bees were all dead.

Very frustrating. I'm a "TF" keeper but we're near a large Monsanto test farm so it's pretty hard to keep things clean. I had 2 previous hives "dwindle". I know one of the neighbors sprays his pines (christmas trees) with some kind of pesticide so I don't know if they'll really have a chance here.

We shall see...

If they use Sevin or a similar type spray, it is deadly to honeybees.
