I have heard Coca Cola used to free up rusted things,,, but never tried it.
I usually just break off old bolts, and replace all with new ones. Sometimes it gets complicated when bolts are studs in a housing.

I have PB and Liquid Wrench. When I worked at the window factory , they had
Zepreserve. You could instantly see the rust dissolve. I can't find it around here.

The only thing I used WD40 for was my hands. That and as a solvent for removing tough decals/stickers.

I cannot think of the brand I use but I do have penetrating oil. I would never use WD40 as penetrating oil.

I don't have that problem here. The few times I have found any tent caterpillars, a hot dry wind came up and desiccated them.

Other things that I have the pleasure of never seeing here are Japanese Beetles and Cicadas. Even June Bugs are rare.

We don't see cicadas but Japanese beetles are a royal PITA. Don't see that many June bugs. Used to have them clinging to the screens way back when I lived in So. Cal. We've got Gypsy Moths too (only we can't call them that anymore because it is somehow offensive, now they are "spongy months"). The caterpillars decimate maple, oak, apple trees.
