Most veterinarians say that you should not feed garlic to dogs, cats, and birds.

Studies have shown that garlic is very good for dogs in moderation. It would take 8-9 cloves in one sitting to do damage. They don't get that much in a month.

are some ways garlic helps keep your dog healthy:

  1. Prevents the formation of blood clots (anti-platelet)
  2. Decreases cholesterol build up (anti-cholesterolemic)
  3. Widens blood vessels (vasodilator)
  4. Helps prevent the formation of tumors (anti-tumor)
  5. Stimulates the lymphatic system to remove wastes
  6. Antibiotic, antifungal and antiparasitic

Vets also promote nasty processed dog food and vaccinations every year. I have saw first hand what vets recommend, I was a vet tech for years. My vet actually know and approves giving garlic and feeding raw.

I will also be adding Spirulina and bee pollen to their diet. I just have to get the dosage down pat.

I'd like to point out that anti-platelet properties that prevent wounds from clotting (sealing up) are dangerous in birds, since they have very small amounts of blood in their bodies. If they received a serious wound from a predator or accident, anti-platelet properties could kill them.

I have to do more research but I believe it leaves the system fairly quickly. Turmeric can be a problem too, if one has to have surgery, etc. I know I had to pull one of my dogs off that 24 hours beforehand. I gave it 3 days instead to be safe. I decided when I first got chickens that for anything that isn't minor they will be seen by a vet, which thankfully, there a freim the area.
