At least if I need more of my O- blood I can call on my parents, my 6 brothers & sisters and my daughter who all also have O- The blood bank loves our family!

My blood bank sends out a little card saying that your a donor with your blood type on it.. i was surprised when i read the blood type on mine as i excepected to be the same type as my dad (O+) Mum is A-.

I am an A+

after a little reading i found out that the O blood group is recessive and the A is dominant.. - is recessive, + is dominant.

, so there is a high chance my brother is a A+ aswell.

Yup, i was expecting to be one

but apparently not. It's a common blood type with 38% (31% A+....... 7% A- )of Australian's having it, but my blood can only be used for other A+ and AB+

Yep. I am A-. It is always good to give blood. Not all blood transfusions are emergencies where people need O-. In fact most transfusions are given with type specific blood.
Many people with chronic anemia or chemotherepy will use blood products.
