Gave my broody eggs tonight...first time for both of us...anyone else start some today, 4-4-12?

Number 2 hatched!!! This morning when I went down to check (and yes, it was hard to not go down there in the middle of the middle of the night) I noticed a piece of shell out in front of the hen. It was a perfect half with the number 2 on it!!! I couldn't hear any peeping, but gently looked under her and there was the cutest little chick. Rosa let me check it out long enough to snap the pic and then it crawled right back under her and she poked it back to where she wanted it. I am so proud of her that we have one live one. Now I just hope the other two that are viable will hatch so it won't be a loner.

Well, so far all I've had is one dead in the shell. Pipped on the wrong end!! The others are moving, rolly polly little guys... All except for one in the top corner. I used a syringe and fuel line to up humidity, because I forgot to do it before hatching began. Fingers crossed some of these babies will live because I got water on the shells!!

Mine are hatching! 18 set under mama hen, 11 actually developed.

The first two hatched and then died while still wet. :(

Now there are 5 little peepers under mama. Waiting to see what the others do. :D

Well it has been a busy morning here. The other two hatched and all three are doing great. I took the two quitter eggs away..she didn't even notice. I think she is going to be a good momma.

This was the first one...we found it early this morning.

This one is has a poofy head. It is super cute.

And finally the last little one..I got to watch this one hatch.

I hope everyone else is has some good hatches today and tomorrow. After the drama of the two dead ones this week, this is a welcome site. :) Life is good.

I've got three that have been pipping since last night. Really hard not to intervene... BUT, they're still alive and peeping when I talk to them. I'm hoping they aren't the only two that make it.

Sending good thoughts your way! Seems it is always something with chicks. I have a 6 week old Naked Neck I am now trying to treat for wry neck due to an injury yesterday...she is in my bathroom...on my way to town now for Poli vi sol and some vitamin E.

I went out to check my mamasita that had 5 under her, one had hatched a bit ago, one was still wet and the other three are pipping.

That is great news!

I candled my other broody tonight, she is at day 14 tonight. I took one away that showed no growth, cracked it open and it was just a runny yolk. She has another one that has a very small crack in the shell, but the membrane is not broken and the embryo is moving around like crazy. Fingers crossed for that one. :) The three that hatched yesterday...she already has them eating crumbles and today I watched her feed one of them a bug she caught as it flew by her. Amazing...

I'M HATCHING I'M HATCHIN'!!!!!!

And yes, I AM posting this everywhere.. LOL!

Right now we're 1/4 through with hatch for the few that made it to lockdown... fingers crossed, still! Two SSG's, one WC out so far. One hatch is doing his/her best to make it's way out. Two SSG's pipping, two WC's peeping, no one's zipping. Pray, and praying for the little wry neck baby to survive through hatch!
