Geese and Goslings

Still not here as of this morning. Really hoping they get here today.........This heat wave is nuts and they really need water by now.

Holding good thougts for you and sending them your way. I've been thinking about you and wondering if the babies arrived since yesterday. Sorry about the delay and the stress it's causing.

I am assuming they will arrive in decent shape. May I suggest that you do NOT allow them unrestrictive water. Stick their bills in the water and let them take a couple of sips each and then TAKE THE WATER AWAY after 10 minutes or so repeat. Birds that are dehydrated will tend to drink too much too fast. A mild case I call water drunk because they act like they are drunk. Major cases can result in death. they need to rehydrate slowly the same way that a dehydrated person does. This is not just goslings though it hits them harder because of their small body weight. Any time a waterfowl gets dehydrated it should be rehydrated slowly.

Well, I guess it wasn't meant to be cuz I got a call from Murray saying that the goslings never hatched and that they never shipped me any. This is just ridiculous!!!!!! I confirmed 3 times that they had been shipped, talked to them for over an hour yesterday about them charging me more than they should of (and they said they had been shipped again) and I get a call on my cell today that they were never shipped. I am NEVER going through Murray McMurray again!!!! They overcharge, charge your account before eggs hatch, tell you they hatched fine, tell you they were shipped and when (tuesday night) 3 times, argue with you about their overcharging practices, and then call your cell and leave a vm saying that they never hatched. They only geese they have left are chinese or african or something and they would be more than happy to ship me some of them (for the same price even though these geese cost less than the toulouse). This is beyond ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am just livid right now!!!! I guess I'll go to auctions and see if I can't find a male toulouse or emden at one of them as there is no one around me that breeds them.

I started wondering about the exact same thing this afternoon but discounted the thought when I re-read you post about confirming and re-confirming shipment. I'm so sorry! This really stinks. I know how much you were looking forward to the babies. I don't blame you for being upset - I would be livid as well. It sounds to me like Murry McMurry has some serious customer service issues.

How in the world did this get so messed up. They've been so inconsistent with their "answers". Again, I'm sorry this happened to you.
I'm hoping you find geese somehow someway - good luck.

Joni

I am much calmer now although I am still never ordering from them again. I'll just keep looking locally.

Does anyone know of anyone who has Toulouse goslings in Northernmost Central PA? I would really prefer goslings as I want mine to raise some and I want to ensure that they grow up with my chickens.
