Gender and POL soon?

I have 10 pullets, first girl laid her egg Nov. 4th at 24 weeks old...since then 5 are now laying and they each lay an egg a day, maybe taking one day off. My smallest pullet, a red star has laid a jumbo size egg from day one. I worried they wouldn't lay until Spring, but it hasn't stopped them and I chose not to supplement any light either. Once they started squatting they laid their first egg within a week. Now just waiting on the other 5.....It is so crazy exciting to get those first eggs, the newness has not rubbed off yet. Best to you and yes, those are all girls!
sounds like you have all production breeds such as sex links , production reds, and leghorns which will lay year round without supplemented light

i haven't seen an egg in about 2-3 months now

What is laying now is a Maran, 2 RIRs, a red star and a GLWyandotte, and I'm waiting for my BR, Cochin, 2 EEs and a Specckled Sussex to join in. Ive heard that some pullets will lay well their first winter but you will have to supplement all winters after. So far this is ringing true with 5 of mine.

Me too! My ornamentals are pretty lame layers.. Only the Sebright every second day.lol :p. We aren't big egg eaters and I am not a good baker.

i have 7 pullets in the age ranges of 7-9 months and one that is slightly over a year none of mine are laying and my pullets have not started laying this year wither -__- i can't wait till they start to lay though

an update in case anyone is curious - Pepper the BR layed her first egg on Christmas Day (6 months old) and has layed sporadically since then. No eggs yet from the others...

They may start soon! We've had some though who waited until spring. It just depends on the amount of daylight and the weather. This year we had one just start laying yesterday, so you never know! Hope you get some more to start laying soon.

Thanks! It's exciting to start getting eggs - ate one for breakfast this morning and it was delicious!
