Gender guesses on this Lavender Orpington chick?

I'm sorry I busted out laughing as soon as I read this. :lau
Oh, lol. I saw your reaction emoji and was wondering what made you laugh... :)

I should probably explain WHY I said that. Several BYC peeps were commenting on the fact that this chick did not look like a Lavender Orpington. Since this is my first experience with hatching eggs and with Lavenders, those statements kind of shocked me, tbh. I never questioned that it wasn’t a Lavender Orpington chick. I’m sure there are sketchy breeders on eBay, but the reason I chose this seller is because she was extremely detailed in her description, explaining her whole breeding process and all of the measures she went through (which was nothing like any of the other breeders on eBay). With every email we exchanged, she was quick and knowledgeable. She seemed legit. She blew me away with all of the steps that she took to prepare each of the 12 eggs for shipping. It was truly impressive. All arrived in perfect condition to me on Kauai. The box was also covered with cute little cartoon looking chicks and “fragile” stickers as well as Christian crosses. Very cute. Upon opening the package, on top of all of the packing material, there was a beautiful scripture that was printed on card stock about the size of a business card. You can tell that this was a very kind woman that took extra measures in everything she did. I appreciated that. She said that this season was producing a strong bloodline of offspring so I was happy to hear that. All in all, my experience with her was great. My comment about her being a wonderful, Christian woman was not to judge or criticize her in any way. That truly was not my intention and that’s why I wanted to write this. I was mostly trying to point out that she seemed like a really good person with integrity and I wouldn’t think that she would have sold me eggs that were not purebred Lavender Orpington. Yet, now, with the comments left on the pics of my chick from more experienced peeps here on BYC, I’m hearing that this chick doesn’t look like a Lavender.

At this point, I just continue to update my thread with pictures of this chick as it gets older, hoping others can guess the gender as well as give their opinions as to whether it is truly a purebred Lavender or not.

Well, let's remember that lavender orps aren't recognized in the SOP, so there is no true definition of what the color should look like on orpingtons. I think your chicks are lavender the way the breeder thinks lavender should be. ❤️

Hi BYC Peeps!
Here are some updated pics of my Lavender Orpington chick who is currently 7 weeks, 5 days old.

Your opinions?
