Gender of Barred Rock?

Once you choose the photo you have to upload it- sometimes that takes a full minute or two- then two codes will appear under the photo. You copy the lower code and paste it.

Edited to clarify: the code you see once you choose the photo isn't the real code yet- you have to hit 'Submit' -don't click the 'resize image?' box, and it will automatically be a good size for us to see.

Once it's done, you'll find the two new codes- just copy the second one and paste it for us.

Usually the small ones are the thumbnail, and you have to click on it to enlarge it. I upload through BYC and use the bottom Image url, works nicely.

I go to "Uploads" on the blue tool bar above, Browse to find my image from my own My Pictures folder on my computer's Desktop and then once it's uploaded I click the link to the pic (it becomes highlighed in blue) then copy & paste it to my message here and click Submit to post.

You will not see the picture in your post until you've submitted it.

Regarding gender or BRs...I have 8 - 4 of which came sexed from the hatchery and 4 that I bought locally about a week later and were already a few weeks in age. I thought I was pretty good at sexing chickens, but now I am beginning to wonder.

At first I thought I had a total of 7 pullets and only 1 cockerel (on purpose)...slowly but surely the other three "pullets" from the local buyer have begun to look male-ish. Their legs are thick, combs are really red and pronounced (still not as pronounced as my one for sure cockerel but more so than the sexed pullets from the hatchery). I began to think, "Well, they are a little older and the hatchery chicks will begin to show these characteristics," but a month later the hatchery chicks still have very small pinkish combs, no red.

I wonder if them being from different lines of BRs makes a difference.

I am going to follow this post to see what readers think of your pics once they are posted.

Okay, now I can see it.

Those are big wattles. Because of shadows in the pic I can't really see saddle feathers, I don't think. Based on wattles I would say BOY, too...but, like I said, I am doubting myself lately.
