So this little guy is around three weeks old, and I've been looking at pictures of feather sexing Favorelles. We're going to keep it anyway, but I'm just not sure. All of the pictures are if the same chick.

I can get more pictures if need be.
    Thanks!

  2. A picture of the comb would help. Also, what is the second picture of?

I can take a picture of it's comb.
The second picture is a top view of it's wings.

Still a little young. Another week-ten days should make it much easier.

  5. From the wings and tail growth, if it is three weeks old, then I'm guessing he's a male.

    You can't feather sex Faverolles.
You can tell by their breast feathers sometimes. If a chick has black breast feathers, it's an obvious male. But the best way is just to wait until six weeks and post a pic of the comb.

Way too young, those first feathers look pretty much the same on faverolles. Agree wait a week or so for some shoulder and body feathers to happen.:)

I guess I'll wait. I read on Feathersite that they can be accurately sexed from 10 days, by the colour of their feathers. Is that true?

My understanding is that yes, they're supposed to be feather sexable by color once the breast feathers start coming in. However, I've read many times on here about people who had really dark females and/or really light males. It seems that hatcheries aren't doing much to keep that sexing ability in their stock.
