Understandable, but also a bit short sighted. While you are holding onto this hope (btw, I agree, the bird is looking awfully cockerel-ish) you would be doing yourself and the bird both a great service by getting a good, firm "Plan B" in place so that when you have to let go of the denial you are not scrambling to figure out what to do with your little guy.
