General help with newly built coop

That was "chicken math" in action. Has 6 birds in an 8x4 space, at some point (soon?) will **somehow** have 8 birds in the same space.

Later, will be asking about adding another house to the run, or expanding this one.

Suggest you cover the floor with something, before the poultry gets moved in, and you place your bedding. Will make clean out easier later, and extend the life of the lumber. Cheap vinyl/linoleum is a very popular choice. Be sure to run it a bit up the walls, as moisture in the corners is one of the worst places for rot, as it tends to wick between boards and then doesn't have a chance to dry out. No advice on the nesting boxes - not sure what your handyman was thinking.

We picked up the vinyl last night. 😊 I think we will just cover up the three tiny boxes and see how we do with the two good-sized ones. This is my fourth coop in about 8 years, in three houses... we were trying to go for "pretty" as well as functional. Eventually, we will get there! LOL

but it wasn’t until he was finished that he told me that he was not able to fully download the plan,
 :barnie

Finding the photos very confusing.
Are the nests interior or exterior to the coop?
More pic of exterior of coop might help.
Is there an access door for you to get in and clean etc?

The nests are inside, two that are good sized and the three we are doing away with. There is access to collect eggs from outside. There is also a people door to enter coop to clean, etc. (as well as a chicken pop door)

*For some reason I can’t find the pic of the egg collection door
Well, you can take some more pics today. :D
Too bad the builder....OhWell, NM.... water under the bridge now.
Tho I do wonder about how good the plans were to begin with.

Can make this work.
First thing I'd do is get a bigger roof over it, with large overhangs to protect venting/windows. Couple sheets of corrugated roofing, metal or plastic, would do the trick. Where to put the roosts is unclear at this point?

Oh, might have missed Welcoming you to BYC! @Lesabrowning
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

I agree with @aart totally workable. No ones coop looks the same a year or two after they get started versus what they thought they wanted before they started. 😂

When adding to that roof, maybe a slope? Also, I wonder if you may want additional ventilation....
