Genesis 1588 How do i treat the red plug???

Chelsea, ducks are the ones with webbed feet, plus chickens have pointy bills.

I've never taken mine out, it really depends on where you 'bator is, if your humidity in the room you have it in is high take the plug out, if its low don't, also depends on the temp in the room low temp in, higher out, plus experiment see what works good for you

I know what a duck LOOKS like, I just don't know about hatching em.

My daughter definitely knows what a duck or anything water fowl looks like since they tend to attack her in mass forces. For whatever reason her and water fowl aren't on the same page.

I could tell stories about her and water fowl adventures.

Day 12 Opa, all looks good. Keep fingers crossed for me.

so even when they are hatching leave it out eh? i have my bator in a dark closet on a shelf and my room temp is set at 73

I just got my 1588 last week and this is all good info. Katy the sponge you use must be used with warm water? I'll be starting mine up in the next few weeks. It's been a bit cold here and can't get to the coop but twice a day. Mike

My plug stays in at all times. I use it during hatch to regulate humidity only and typically I still don't have to take it out. I have on a couple occasions when I used too much water or too many chicks hatched at once, then I removed it half way to let some moisture out. Also, when the hatch is over and chicks aren't drying fast enough, I will sometimes remove it.

I've done two hatches with my two Genesis 1588's in the last month. I never remove the red plug at all. The directions say to remove it only if there is condensation on the clear-plastic top during/after the chicks' hatching.
