Genetics Feather vs Clean legged

About 18 months ago I incubated a rock (roo) and white brahma (hen) the two surviving offspring both had partially feathered legs, one was a roo and one was a hen. Fast forward to now...

Golden Seabright hen x Mlle Fleur d'uccle roo.

Cockerel has clean legs like mom and pullet has feathered legs like dad. Am I correct to assume this is not a sex link and just a draw on the genetic lottery as to who gets clean legs and who gets feathered??

Feathered legs are not sexlinked. Apparently they can be recessive but are typically dominant. Two copies lead to more feathered legs than one, so the two each had one copy. The father may or may not have had two copies, more offspring were needed to see. In this next cross, the d'Uccle only had one copy since he had a clean-legged chick. 50% of his offspring would be feathered and 50% not, it just happened to correlate with the sexes

Right. That's what I thought which is why I said luck of genetics. Makes for some funny looking but cute bym.
