I succeeded on getting dark legs on a Barred Chick of first generation. Heard it's nearly impossible to have dark legs on a Barred chicken.

He's also sexlinked by Barring(Mother is Heritage Barred Rock), & supposed to be Sexlinked by Shank color. Dad is a Silkie.

@nicalandia
Thought you may want to see the barred chick with dark legs. It's for my Giant Silkie Project.
When You involve Fibromelanosis (Silkie/Cemani x Barred Rock) males will show dark shanks but otherwise light/clear skin. he is still sex linked for the Dermal Inhibitor Id from mother(and gets a id+ from sire). What you see it's The effect of Fibromelanosis on Epidermal Melanin(which Id has not effect on)

But wouldn't it cause him to have yellow/white shanks instead of dark? I've done Yellow Shank X Fibro last time with Brahma, & ended up with yellow shanked male.

No
I have a F2 cockerel (Dominique bantam grandfather, white legged cuckoo d’Anver grandmother) and his legs look totally like pale slate (not as dark as yours though, it’s true) but it’s just epidermal melanin.

Do you have pictures?
I was talking about sexlinkage by Shank color, & the difficulty to keep dark skin on a Barred chicken.

This talks about how hard it is to have Fibromelanosis, & Barring together.

But my bird isn't Fibro due to Hen being yellow skinned, & Father Fibro. This should've resulted in Yellow skinned a male.
