Georgia Giant Quail anyone have experience raising these?

Sam is probably right about size overall and the ability to get there way faster than Bobwhites. I have thought of getting a few coturnix again just to have for people who only want to keep to butcher. Most people that have contacted me want them for hunting or restocking their land. Coturnix just won't work for that. I am hoping to expand more of the quail anyhow just to have variety. Like more Mexican Speckled (small but beautiful) and Gamble as well. And just because. LOLOL

SamG347 I think you may have talked me into trying them if I can find some eggs for the Jumbo's I will try them. That's the great part about being able to get on here more than likely someone has already been thru it saves a lot of trial and error. lol

LOL...glad I can help in anyway...I would offer you some Jumbo eggs but wont have them till spring/summer. There are lots of good breeders on here though....many have my old stock.

I am currently getting 20+ Jumbo Brown Coturnix eggs per day, incubator is full. 35 cents each plus shipping. These are really nice birds, the last batch I hatched started laying at 36 days. I could ship some Monday.

Hey, I LIKE dark meat, LOL. That has been my favorite ever since I was a kid. My DH is the same, our family tends to fight over the dark meat. I have never tried quail before though, what does it taste like, compared to chicken?

My Jumbo Coturnix are both dark/white meat. Dark upper breast with a white underbreast meat layer.

They have some Texas A&M Whites in there somewhere.

I'll be selecting to bring up their size and with more white breasts. That's the fun part.
