German New Hampshire

Thought I would share some photos of my two GNH that I hatched from Banjo Joe. Loving the difference between these and the "New Hampshires" that I have from MCM hatchery. The bodies are soooo different!

They look Beautiful!!

Well Chris, I can say this much, I don't have to worry about what roo I'm going to use If I raise any of these this year. Everyone of the males had white in their tails except one. He's not the nicest one overall but there is no way that I am starting out with one with white in his tail. I only ended up with 2 hens. So if I raise any of these this year it will be quite the job. lol
Jim

Well Jim I ended up just the exact opposite with my NHs I had a fairly good group of males to choose a couple from but didn't get many pullets that I would say were worthy of moving forward with, actually the best 2 girls I ended up with so far came from Chris via some eggs he sent me for free in the mail LOL didnt even charge me shipping (yet)

You know Jeff, it is funny how most of us have never met each other in person but still seem to be such close friends. I know with me, there are a few on here that I almost feel like brothers to me. I guess it is because I come from such a large family. I'm the youngest of 12 so it seems that everyone is related to me. ha,ha. Anyway, that Chris seems like one heck of a nice fella. lol Oh my, I think I just heard his bubble burst. Maybe it was his buttons popping. lol

Ya'll are some funny guys!!!!

Jim it was buttons, lol!!! Remember, you have to start with what you have but if you need a hen I have one that I can send you.

Jeff, I'm glad that those eggs worked out for you. It will be interesting to see what I end up with next year at this time! I'm really looking forward to growing some chicks out this coming year.

will be looking forward for your efforts too, I got a big plans myself, we'll see how all that works out too LOL But I do finally have a decent arsenal to goto now. took a spell to gather it all up, but I got'er and working on just a few more additional have to haves then I should be good to go for a while. (I hope, may have to invest in some "blinders" to keep me on the straight and narrow and not drift off/wandering eyes to other areas/ left field)

I finally got around to taking some photos of my small flock of GNH: I have 3 cockerals and 3 hens. One of the males was from eggs purchased off here from T.E.R. the rest I got from the awesome Chris Herzog.

I just love these birds and they, along with my Red Dorkings, have quickly become my flock favorites.

Oden (from T.E.R.'s eggs). He is about 8 months old.

All these I got from Chris are between 6-7 months old.

Thor-

Loki

The Ladies

A better shot of Priscilla, the hen I like the best.

Thanks everyone.

Yeah, Odin is a BIG boy. He is very solid when you pick him up too, which is great. The other two are starting to put on size pretty quickly now, so I am sure they'll catch up to him shortly: I am going to leg band them tonight so I can tell them apart when they are all grown.

Seems like Chris's birds are spreading across the region pretty quickly....lol.

My hens started laying a couple weeks ago: I caught one in her favorite laying spot...a potted banana tree on the front porch, yesterday (actually, my daughter went out the door and startled the hen in the plant causing it to fly into the side of her head...it was pretty funny).

Since they seem to be laying pretty regularly, I am going to be putting the ladies in the breeding pen with Oden for the first round next week. Fingers are crossed I get at least a few eggs from them to hatch since Oden is the only other bloodline I have right now.
