German pekin? Is it the same thing as a regular pekin?

This is a exhibition pekin. Our standard here in Australia wants a bird like this, but since our Pekins were crossed with Aylesburys ages ago for commercial purposes it is hard to even get a pure pekin of some type. I know that there are definitely some show stock here, probably in VIC or QLD.

So they are practically a different strain- bred in Germany, tall bodies, etc. I came up with this reading tro Story guide to raising ducks. He never said anything about other kinds of pekins so I just kinda assumed they where a different strain.

Yeah...I was thinking too! Maybe in Germany the bred a reg pekin with a runner and just call it a German pekin when it really a hybrid or a mule I can't remember what they are called when mixed.
