I would find about 20 or more eggs in one of the nests and only a few in the others - go figure! Now we only have 14
hens and the same 6 nesting boxes and there will usually be a 'pile' of 7 - 8 in one of the nests and just a couple in the
others if any. Maybe they just like laying on top of the other eggs. We have standard size Barred Rocks and it always amazes my husband and I how they can lay w/o breaking the pile of eggs beneath them and the eggs are usually so very clean! I use pine straw in my nesting boxes and the 'girls' seem to love it.
