Getting a buddy for my quail

I’m very optimistic about another rooster since Quincy(my quail rooster) has a very mellow and friendly personality.

But there is no guarantee the other roo will be. He could kill Quincy, and he may not defend himself.

So, I have a Japanese quail rooster and I’m looking to get him a female buddy. However, I also don’t want a billion baby chicks here. If I get a different breed of female quail will I still have to worry about chicks from them? For example, if I were to get a female jumbo quail or Egyptian quail

To be honest, quail of both sexes have the potential to be aggressive. My male was scalped by a female.

If you post your location, someone near you may have an extra roo.

Yeah I’ve found someone near me selling few month old quails of different breeds, around the same age as Quincy

Yes that was my thought. I have the day off work tomorrow so I will have all day to supervise and make sure they get along

Ahh man! I’m actually pretty close to you! I live in Sacramento! Darn it, I wish I lived in Monterey! I love it there!! I have some very nice, well behaved boys! They’d love a home—I am eventually going to be selling a bunch to a guy that trains bird dogs. But some of these boys are such good boys and so pretty! It’s hard to let them go

@kurby22 is near Sacramento, and I'm in Sonoma County. I have a LOT of chicks to choose from right now, but I just sent all of my extra boys off to freezer camp a couple of weeks ago.
