getting chicks! what should i use as bedding? [cheap]

my family and i are getting tight with money and im in the middle of getting a job. any ideas for a cheap bedding? where we live there is a bunch of white pines and i could use pine needles but idk if thats good or not >.<

I use pine shavings. I get a big bale of them for $5.99.

I use pine shavings and haven't had any problems. I've also used old tshirts and then just hosed them off before washing them.

Pine shavings are really the way to go. They are very inexpensive and work really well.

Steer clear of pine needles. The aren't absorbent and contain a high acid level. We use pine shavings.
