Getting closer to being finished! New Picture Added

Thanks! I thought it might inspire them to do what they are supposed to do, however, the only one of my seven that is old enough to lay has only laid 1 egg since I got her a few weeks ago. I think the summer heat has put her into "I'm not going to lay an egg in this heat" mode. The younger ones should start laying hopefully the latter part of August and into the fall.

Haha. None of mine are laying yet cause i just got started with the whole chicken thing a couple months ago and i love them! All my chickens i have i have had since they were chicks. And my oldent pullet should start laying in 3 weeks! I'm overly excited lol. I have a total of 20 hens so i should be getting lots of eggs! Plus i am hoping to start a hatchery soon so it's going to be a fun experience. Good luck with your Hens! Cross my fingers they will start laying!

I have been able to get one of my roof sections hinged and props added to allow ventilation above the roosting area. It also adds to the look of the coop by having the ability to raise or lower the roof.

The nest box on the right now has a door to open for the upper nest along with the larger door on the bottom for the lower nests. There are four nest boxes and the way I had it before I could only get to the lower nest from the outside of the coop. The lower door opens downward by pulling on the horseshoe, and the upper door simply lifts upward.

I am in the process of completing this new addition to the coop. The other one was one that you could not stand up in. This new one is octagon shaped, and it has an big umbrella for the roof, and poultry netting and some canvas type material for the siding. Being here in Arizona we need coops that get good ventilation. This will really help in that regard. The door is half old window and the rest I simply attached it all together.

Anyway, just I would post what I have been building lately. In the second picture from the back side you can see the door that I have had been using. I is springloaded, and you can pull on a rope from outside the coop, and with the spring and that the rope is run through a small pulley, it makes it real easy to open up.
Thanks for reading.

Thank you for the nice comment. I still have some trim work to do and I would like to also make some window frames up where the canvas is and instead of glass panes I will use poultry netting. Earlier this evening I put a tree trunk with some branches in there and made a neat little roost for them. I have two pullets in there right now, keeping them safe from the meany hens that like to peck at them.
