Getting my chicks early!

I was supposed to get my Brahmas next Saturday, but the man who sells them helped my fix the fence and attract some crows as a temporary solution (for the hawk) and I am getting them tomorrow! I won't post any pics until full grown though because for some odd reason, when I take a picture of something and I lose it, it makes it harder, not easier, to drop the pain. I know that with any animal, the highest death risk is at chick stage. But I don't have them yet! Also, I need some ideas for names!

If you have a hawk problem is your run area "fully" fenced...including the top with either hardware cloth or a roof? As for names, you might try what I ended up doing. I chose the letter M and came up with the four names for my chicks: Mable, Maxine, Merry and Myrtle...

well they are one of those "almost free range birds" because I had to get 10 acres of fencing! So I'd be broke if I got wire netting.... unless maybe there's another material that's cheaper that'll do the job!
