I love Pekins. They look so squishy and smooth!

Ok! So I picked them each up when I got them home out of the tote. One at a time to clip flight feathers and at least one sounded like he had no quack at all. I almost thought something was wrong.Yea!
You can also do an experiment. Pick each one of them up and walk away from the group. The girls will quack their heads off and the boys will be silent or sound like they are chain smokers.
One looks to be a white crested duck. But really no need to clip wings...they can't fly really. Mine are in a 4 1/2 foot fence and don't get out, if they make it through the gate they will wander though. Maybe get a ft off the ground and can go about 5ft before crashing lol they are to heavy, especially if you feed them well.
They are adorable! And yes they do look like they are going through a molt. They will be plump and silky in no time! Give them treats every day and they will start getting really friendly. My Pekin is a porker and will start running to me when she knows I have treats. She always is first lol.Ok so I picked them up earlier today and they almost look like they have been molting so it’s hard to tell. At least one sounded like he had “lost” his quack so I’m hoping I got at least one male. They looked a little rough when I got them. They had been kept in one of those off ground wire cages all their life. One has an old injury to his or her wing. Looks like it had been broken and then healed wrong. They are extremely skiddish so I doubt they’ve had much human contact. I’m glad I have them now so I can give them a better life. I have them in a coop at night and they have a large fenced area. I probably won’t let them free Range for a month or two until they know for sure where “home is”. It was difficult to get any good photos because they are so skiddish so I hope these help. (They are a little dirty from playing in the water pale I got them!)

I’ve had two Pekins and neither of them could get more than a couple of inches off the ground...... fattiesI wasn’t sure if he or she was a white crested or of one just pulled on his or her head Feathers lol. My fence is about 4 1/2 foot so I should be ok then!![]()
