Hi all I am just looking for the best idea for the ground of where my chicken will be. I have an area picked out it's between 2 sheads and it's perfect to lock up the chicken at night but also load of room that we are building and enclosure for times where we would be away or just not around so the chickens can be left out without supervision. They will be roaming the whole garden daily as there is someone home all day. Anyway the ground at the moment has a lot of rubble and things there I'm wondering to I just clean it off and leave it as muck? Or what's best to put down all recommendation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
I have attached photos of the shed a and the area between and also of the area that they can roam all day I will be only getting 3 chickens as this is my first time.

Muck is a no go. Look into deep litter - a base of chunky aged wood chips with other plant materials thrown in, like dried leaves and grass, garden trimmings. It's pretty easy to manage and once it gets going will help eat up poop and mud, and reduce odors.

And I'd love to see a better photo of the space you're thinking of, because hard to tell how wide it is or what else is in that space that might be an issue. Like the slope of the roof on the right would dump rain water right into the run, unless there's a gutter there?
