Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Wow. Jealous of all your hatchings! Your going to LOVE the Bourbon turkeys. And the jersey giants! I had to order some Buckeyes eggs, I just couldn't stand it anymore. !
i just need to find geese still laying by then.

if not i will switch to chukar and pheasant and do the geese next season.

Mrs Oz has decided we should go for a pen of every table bird we can get.
,
I will be looking for Ostrich, Rhea, Emu, Cassawary are out - they are too darn mean and dangerous.

I still cant get her to buy off on rabbits.

They are fast too! I had two wild ones pop out onto the road in front of me in South Australia...crazy beasts just trotted down the track at close to 50k!

Eggs are beautiful, and are stunning when they are engraved.

FYI, Aussie Army Armored corp also wear their plumes in their beret's and slouch hats.

the last aussie animal I encountered was scary. I was doing well over the speed limit (well double it) near silverton, outside of broken hill. came over a crest and almost had a camel in my lap.i still dont know how i missed it.

nothing more fun than pacing a big red or an emu along side the car. you can keep the camels though

I grew up around emus. I know what I am getting myself into. Nothing says dont jump the fence into my yard like a ratite
We have discussed the idea of ratites ever since we started the plan.

our property in the Philippines is about 2.5 acres (1HA), we would give 0.5 acres to the rattites in long runs along the fence that joins my father in law's place. The fence is 7 feet high. we would run 2 lengths of hog wire - about 7 feet also along the runs with padlocked gates.

Mrs Oz wants a menagerie so who am I to argue

Hey Oz, bigger eggs like peafowl and goose are really better if not shipped to you.
There is just too much to slosh around in them during the USPS roller-coaster.

Any eggs are better not shipped.

I was pleased to get turkeys locally. half my guinea fowl are local, the rest are coming from NoCal.

I would love to find local geese and peafowl that I am not going to be gouged over.

I dont need fancy peafowl - just mutts are fine.
