Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

officially entered Alex into the Open Poultry Show and Laying Hen Egg Contest at the AV Fair!!! for the Blue Andalusians: 1 Cock, 2 Hens & 2 pullets; and I entered the beautiful newly acquired Rhode Island Reds I purchased from Larry Morris Nachtmann, into the egg laying contest and Cock and Hen classes. Hoping to learn at the show what to do, how to best raise show birds and just have some fun! Look forward to it!! Though about entering the Salmon Favorelles, Bantam Cochins and Cream Legbars but for our first time keepin it simple. fingers crossed!!

Wait...people wash and blow dry their chickens? And there's a certain way to hold them (aside from, *tightly* with the wings pressed to the body)????

I have a lot to learn, apparently.

I was thinking about signing my kiddos up for 4H...lol

You can check out youtube. I know i saw a couple of videos of I think 4-H er's showing how to handle chicken and how to bath them.

So, our neighbors already think we're pretty crazy because not only do we have our dogs in the house, but our chicks are in the house, too...lol.

If they catch me giving a chicken a bath...well...they may disown us...lol
