Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

In the little bit of chicken reading I've done (excluding this thread, of course...and btw, I'm up to page 207 or so...kind of got a little lost during the whole electrical engineering part...not my thing...lol)

Anyways...

In the little bit of chicken reading I've done, I've come to be quite attracted to those black copper marans! Who wouldn't love a chocolate colored egg?!? Hubby says, as long as the inside of the egg is regular colored (LOL), he's game.

Which means he's NOT game for a silkie...because the inside of the silkie isn't "regular".

I really want a polish...you know, for the humor aspect.

Mostly, we're just looking to have a couple of hens for our own egg use.

Though I can definitely see how this could get out of hand.

Edit: Page 215! Guess I read further during quiet reading than I had thought! Gotta love summer schedule!

i have never seen the inside of a silkie egg. i knew the bones were black but imagined the egg to be the same as a normal egg.

I am trying to get some silkie, white crested black polish and cuckoo marans locally in socal for my next trip.

i have never seen a bycer get "out of hand"

out of their mind, yes - but never out of hand

By inside of the silkie, I meant inside of the silkie itself...lol. I think it's eggs are regular inside. Hubby said he wasn't eating no gray tinged bird.

So for the purposes of meat eating...yeah, silkies are out. But for ornamental? I don't see why not.

So my son happened to be looking over my shoulder at that chicken pic...and he's like, "What IS that thing???"

LOL! He's 6.

If the chicken could see your avatar, he would probably say the same

I love your avatar. The first time I saw it, I laughed out loud. Your son
(am assuming) reminds me of one of my nephews who I dearly love!
