Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Try electrical tape It looks different from electric fence. If you want to do the parimeter....

My cousins use big tractor tires to fasten their goats to for grazing. easy to move just lift one end and roll it to the next spot. then you can plunk their water bucket in the middle.... keeps them from knocking it over.

BTW OZ with your background you might consider bring some Pop in a can for your goats.... Goats can be Artificially insemniated.... Sheep cant but goats can. Just a thought.

I was thinking about AI.

Our previous pigs in the Philippines were impregnated through AI. I have done it with cows as well but I thought that goats required a laparoscopic procedure though.

As I opened the thread my torrents app told me that "Artificial Insemination in Farm Animals" just downloaded. 320 pages of must read material lol

Productivity in sheep and goats could be increased, by improving the quality of the spermatozoa assigned for use in AI, and improving the AI techniques in these species. Recent innovations in sheep breeding include the development of a flexible catheter at the National Center for Genetic Resource Preservation, Fort Collins, Colorado, that can be inserted through the ovine cervix, thus overcoming the barrier to effective AI in this species. AI in sheep and goats is traditionally performed with fresh or cooled spermatozoa, with acceptable fertility results. However, use of foreign breeds, genetic improvement and the use of “safe” semen from other countries requires the use of frozen semen, to enable analyses for contaminants or diseases in the “donor” male to be completed before the semen doses are used for AI. Although the post-thaw motility of frozen semen from goats and sheep is usually considered acceptable, low fertility has been associated with its use in AI, mainly owing to a shortened lifespan of the spermatozoa.

i can do this. in my line of work i have seen scores of cervical openings via a speculum.

If I was full time in the Philippines I would do it. I would have to have 20 does to make it viable.

Maybe we can do "goat insemination mission" lol
Gives a whole new meaning to "mail order bride"!

Bernie found a Water Buffalo for sale up the road. She is 14 months old. We got her for $250 against a starting price of $282.

I send Bernie a transfer for the cash.

Once Analou goes to the village govt office and registers her in our name she will come home and get wormed.

Say I wanted to transfer money internationally (which I have been known to do every now and then).

The old fashion way would be to go to Chase, Wells Fargo or some other bank. The fee for a wire is about $35 at this end and a fee at the other end. The money would take 3 days to get there.

Kind of sucks

The new way through Xoom.com. Cost $4,
