Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Did she get the old-fashioned appendectomy? My ex-husband had the laproscopic version and he wasn't moving for several days.. I can only imagine the whole 'zipper' thing. Ouch.

I heard horrendous things healthcare wise from a 'friend' who lives further north in the Phillipines. Ofcourse, he's a bunch of hot air and crazy stories..

the philippines has excellent healthcare if you have cash or private health insurance

most dont have philhealth, a super basic coverage. a law was recently requiring the employers of domestic helpers to contribute to social security and philhealth. we got lots of phone calls from people asking us how we set it up - we have been doing it since day one.

there are indigint hospitals run by munincipalities, cities, and provinces. they can be rough. i recently donated an ekg machine and defibrillator to our local hospital. it was their first!!

they got out of the stone age up here (built a new hospital last year)
so they really only want to do the laproscopic version unless the person is about to fall over dead
she will be holding down the couch for the next 4/5 days then she should be able to get around a little
that is how long it took me to start to recover enough to be able to do a few things

The adventure continues....

After much ruminating over the risks versus benefits, we are adding pigs to the farm.

We will start slowly and see how Bernie's wife copes. I had him put the word out that we wanted 3 little pigs. It took about 3 hours lol. Pigletts of unknown ancestory run 1800 pesos in the market. A local lady has a 220kg monster sow that produced 10 pigletts 5 weeks ago today for 2300p. So......

Fortunately I had not converted the free-standing pig pen into a chicken coop (the triplex are now the isolation coops). Its just a matter of getting them home, giving them 5 days of their current feed then transitioning them to home blended.

Analou is a pig farmer!
