Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

I really am heart broken for Ging. I did not like her the first time around but when they retuned she was fantastic. She realized what she walked away from the first time. She had never been emotional but as she handed in her cell phone it was a rough moment.

She left with a few pesos in her hand and debt that we will never see replaced. We cannot do much more unfortunately.

She will have to go back to the sugar cane fields to feed her kids on $4.50 per day. Hopefully Dominic will come to his senses before he blows everything. He will get day work in the fields as well.

from the San Diego high desert. I think Maybe your eggs werre collected over a week or so? When i hatched mine out I was hatching pullet eggs first time eggs have a history of not being fertile. I had five and three hatched.... Also remember day one is actually day zero for hatching.... and of course 28 days to hatch. But 28 is probably an average under perfect conditions. I wouldnt give up till day thirty or so.

The float test will show you if there is a live chick in there the egg will move about. I would make sure that water is the same temp as the incubator though. But the hatching 101 thread will give you insite on all that.

You know I have yet to see my eggs wiggle in the water. I have had chicks hatch from them but no wiggles that I could attribute to anything but me disturbing the water when I put them in.

That's a shame Oz, I thought it really seemed like Dominic was in it for the long run. Luckily you're at least there right now, it would have been worse to happen while you're on the other side of the planet. Hopefully you'll get things sorted.
