getting to a delaware

Duckboy or anybody else wanting to try to make Delawares as per the latest info on how to do it on this thread, save yourself a lot of time and money and just order some from Ideal, they got lots of Delaware patterned chickens. They're not the best patterns sometimes but they all look the same just like all the other factory reds, buff, barreds, whites, what ever color you can dream up they more than likely have them.

If you want to remake a Standard type(SOP) Delaware look on here(BYC) and follow (kathyinmo's) post on her Del remake project. She has the best up to standard type F3s going than you can buy anywhere in the USA (I'd dare to say) unless someones got some tucked away in a hidey-hole and they are not out in plain view or advertised for sure.

Jeff thank you for your interest in my project. I might one day buy Delawares but for now I want to try this project to see if i can obtain the del pattern. I will not be selling or advertising that I have made dels I just want to try it. So if you would like to help me with questions that I might have that will be great.

Bob also states on his own webpage that it might not be leghorn blood added,

The chicks you posted look to be poorly bred R.I, Reds not Red Splash Whites,

whats the fun on just buying from Hatcheries? how about the learning experience he(duckboy) he will earn from this breeding project? he will have a solid background to state his findings and when a would be breeder wants help he will have the experience to tell him what he did and how he got there, not the: "Sorry I bought mines from Ideal so I have no idea what your talking about"

go Duckboy the sky is the limit

Quote: Mahogany is a minor columbian restrictor, it my be one of the genes affecting the males more than the females, wheaten on itself is a very restricted e allele...

I believe some of those columbian like restrictors my be segregating even on Hi Line Red sexlinks.. check out this hen I rescued, remember she has one copy of dominant white, yet she is almost completely red, I see clear white tail feathers or clear hackle white feathers, would be nice if somebody with time could start documenting this acumulative columbian like restrictors and isolate one of them so we can all be in the light, instead of the genetic dark twilight we are at this moment

I told him to go the NH x barred rock route but I think it was too confusing for him since I was talking and didn't have anything written down. He was going to use a deleware on columbian rocks which seems like it would just make things worse
I have corresponded with duck boy and he should be on track to produce the birds.
